Chapter History
In its proceedings, the Grand Board of Directors, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. granted a charter for the establishment of an alumni chapter in Norfolk. The Norfolk Alumni Chapter would be the first graduate chapter of the Fraternity in Virginia. Among the Kappa men responsible for establishing the chapter in Norfolk were: Victor J. Ashe, R.M.Anderson, E.D. Alston, Charles E. Black, Robert L. Barco, William Blocker, M.B, Brown, Richard Bell, Oliver Connor, Warnie Coltron, Fred Ellis, Isaac Faulkner, Vernon Gordon, B.C. Harrison, William Jones, William Mercer, Reverend Henry T. Meyers, James Overton, B. Scott Smith, Reverend D. C. Rice, Thaddeus Smith, Vincent Tubbs, Russell Wilson, Charles West, William Yancey, Edward C. Webb, Dr. Howard Walter Webb, and E.M. Zachary.
Chartering Banquet
At the banquet, Victor Ashe, the Toastmaster, pointed out some of the interesting highlights in the undergraduate careers of the men who made the establishment of the chapter possible. B. C. Harrison reviewed the chronology of events leading up to the establishment of the Chapter. The chartering banquet concluded with the Journal and Guide taking a picture of the group thus launching the first alumni chapter in Virginia.
